Ottawa Shakedown 2015
Good Grief – did the sun ever shine on the 2015 Ottawa Shakedown! We had sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures with overnight lows above the seasonal daytime highs. A far cry from the snow flurries and winds that have greeted us in the past. The warm dry weather did bring an Ottawa-wide burn ban, so we did without campfires but wanted for nothing else.
We had 15 people for Thursday supper at The Glen Scottish Restaurant (alone worth the trip to Ottawa) and 11 trailers camping over the weekend. We feasted on Janice Joynes home baking, stuffed ourselves senseless at a Saturday pot-luck and had eggs-in-a-bag and home-made sticky-buns for breakfast on Sunday. Lest you think otherwise, we didn’t just eat – we had Happy Hours and after supper coffee too.
All this plus a wonderful time visiting with friends we hadn’t seen since the fall. A great time was had by all and we’ll do it again next year.
