In spite of the less-than-auspicious Friday the 13th start, lots of people
had a great time at the Eastern Ontario Shakedown. We had 12 units camping
and including drop-in visitors, 30 people participating. At the Glen
restaurant on Thursday night we had 22 people for the best fish & chips in
The weather was Spring-like. That means sometimes warm, sometime cold,
sometimes sunny, sometimes belting with rain (no snow this year). However
the sunny skies were in sync with our activities since we managed to have
all of them under blue skies. Even the fire ban was lifted an hour before
our first scheduled campfire!
Of course dinner at the Glen was not the only food happening, this is an
event with Airstreamers after all. We had Janice Joynes’ cookies with our
evening coffees, a Friday Happy Hour and Saturday potluck. The weekend ended
Sunday morning with eggs-in-a-bag and more of Janice’s baking.
We left the campground happy, stuffed and promising to do it all again next
year. There’s lots of room so mark May 12th 2017 on your calendars.
