A Norwood Autumn Adventure
Ontario Canada Unit Fall Rally & Annual General Meeting
August 30 – September 3, 2018
Come and enjoy this great scenic area of our province!
About the Location and Area:
Norwood is situated in the heart of the Kawarthas, just 30 km from Peterborough. We’ll be meeting in the heart of the village, at the Fairgrounds. And, all around the area are lots of interesting things to see and do.
Peterborough, of course, has the world famous Lift Locks, and also the Canadian Canoe Museum. Lakefield boasts the Marsh Conservation Area on Lake Katchewanooka. Warsaw has the Warsaw Caves Conservation Area (including some spelunking, if you are up to it.)
At Curve Lake, the Whetung Art Gallery offers a spectacular collection of Native crafts, as well as Fine Art (over 300 artists), Jewelry, Moccasins, Leather work, Sculptures, and much more from Curve Lake First Nation and across Canada.
Then the Petroglyph Provincial Park, near Woodview, has the largest collection of ancient rock carvings in all North America. (Pre-Columbian era – i.e., 1492) This is a great place to visit on a rainy day, as it is inside a huge building.
Burleigh Falls, on the Trent Severn Waterway, is always a great spot to visit. The scenery is terrific!
Near Madoc, you will find the Black River Trading Company – which has a spectacular collection of pottery, sculpture, clothing, etc. An interesting spot to spend an afternoon.
